The 2023 Honda HR-V Goes On Sale In Late 2022

Remember 2015? It seems like a lifetime ago, we know. But 2015 was the year the Honda HR-V finally went on sale in Canada. By 2017, the Honda HR-V was the best-selling crossover in its class.

The time has come for a new HR-V. An all-new HR-V. The 2023 Honda HR-V's release date will occur at some point in the second-half of 2022, with the third-generation model (the first HR-V wasn't sold in Canada) likely to be followed shortly thereafter by an all-new CR-V and all-new Pilot.

For now, what we know of the all-new Honda HR-V is largely based on these sketches Honda just released in January. There's already a new HR-V on sale in much of the world, but that's actually a different vehicle. This isn't abnormal for Honda – for years the global Accord was, for example, a shorter and narrower car than the North American Accord. (Fun fact: the now-defunct Acura TSX was actually the same car as the so-called Euro Accord.)

Precisely put, North America's HR-V isn't the same HR-V as the vehicle you can buy now in Barcelona, Tokyo, or Stockholm. Don't be surprised if the North American model is offered with the more rugged TrailSport edition, akin to the revamped 2022 Passport. And don't be surprised if the HR-V benefits from more powerful engine options like the ones found in the Canada's 24-time best-selling car, the Honda Civic.

The next Honda HR-V won't just be tasked with fulfilling the wishlists of a rapidly growing number of small SUV shoppers; we're confident the new model will also satisfy owners of the current Honda HR-V. There are a lot of them. Between 2015 and 2021, a six-year period in which the Honda HR-V has been on sale in Canada, 79,457 HR-Vs have been sold.
