2018 Was the Best Year in the History of Nissan Canada

Record December results cemented 2018 as the best year in the history of Nissan Canada. Thanks to record results from the Qashqai, Armada, and LEAF, Nissan sales rose 2%, year-over-year, to 136,536 units.

Sales in Canada's Nissan showrooms have nearly doubled since 2012. In fact, 2018 was the Nissan brand's sixth consecutive year of growth; its fifth consecutive year with more than 100,000 sales.

Nissan's most popular vehicle is the Rogue, sales of which shot past 40,000 units in 2018 for a third consecutive year. The Qashqai, which landed in Canada in mid-2017, has taken the crossover market by storm - sales jumped 119% in 2018. The hot new Kicks contributed 4,362 sales to the Nissan ledger. At one of the lineup, the Armada jumped 30% to grab 1,435 new buyers, more than doubling Nissan's full-size volume in just two years.

Then there's the all-electric LEAF. No longer a niche-market car for early adopters, the second-generation Nissan LEAF is a hot seller in Canada. Sales in 2018 were six times stronger than during the prior year. With 5,735 sales in 2018, the Nissan LEAF outsold vehicles such as the Hyundai Sonata, Dodge Charger, and Volkswagen Passat, not to mention the Chevrolet Volt, Hyundai Ioniq, Toyota Prius, and Chevrolet Bolt.

The LEAF is only going to get better. The upcoming LEAF PLUS uses a larger battery back to increase range by 40%, up to 363 kilometres. And yet the LEAF PLUS also produces more power - 250 lb-ft of torque - in conjunction with the greater range.

With the arrival of an all-new Altima for 2019, with all-wheel drive on every model, plus an updated Titan, a refreshed Maxima, and much more, this is shaping up to be a great year for Nissan.
