In 2019, Once Again, Mazda Canada Breaks Its Own CX-5 Sales Record

It's the most popular member of the family. It competes in the most hotly contested vehicle segment in the country. And in a market that was down 4 percent in 2019, Canadian sales of the Mazda CX-5 jumped 4 percent.

2019 was a record year for Mazda CX-5 sales in Canada. 2019's record performance follows best-ever years in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018. Achieving seven consecutive years of year-over-year growth isn't an automatic outcome for any vehicle, but Mazda's philosophy of continued improvement makes the CX-5's rapid growth attainable.

Annual Canadian demand for the CX-5 has skyrocketed since the nameplate's arrival in 2012; jumping 145 percent to 27,696 sales in 2019.

For the 2018 model year, the CX-5 was thoroughly overhauled, but Mazda didn't stop. In 2019, a new 2.5-liter turbocharged engine from the larger CX-9 became available as an optional powerplant on the CX-5 GT. The 2.5T is also standard on a top-of-the-line Signature version of the CX-5 that was also new for 2019. Meanwhile, Mazda also launched a diesel-powered edition of the CX-5 Signature, which basically offers the unending torque of the 2.5T with the best fuel economy in the CX-5 lineup.

2019 wasn't just a big year for the CX-5. Mazda's flagship, the three-row CX-9, also reported best-ever Canadian sales in 2019.
