Kia Rio Named Most Dependable Small Car in J.D. Power's 2018 Dependability Study
November 18 2019, Centennial Auto Group
According to the J.D. Power 2018 Vehicle Dependability Study released on Valentine's Day, the most dependable small car you can buy is...
Drum roll, please.
The Kia Rio.
J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study is a survey of three-year old vehicles. For 2018, that means vehicles from the 2015 model year are eligible. Owners are relied upon to determine how many problems are experienced per 100 vehicles during the last twelve months.
The survey is exhaustive, with 177 problem areas sorted into eight problem categories: seats, HVAC, features, driving experience, interior, engine/transmission, exterior, and infotainment. The Rio earned top marks, besting all competitors, in all of the major categories.
2018 is a big year for the Rio for more than just one reason. Not only is the Rio now the most dependable small car, there's also a newly redesigned Rio. Beyond the refinement, style, and technological upgrades, the Rio most eagerly garners headlines because of the way in which Kia Canada has equipped the 2018 version.
Heated seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a backup camera, Bluetooth, power heated mirrors, and automatic headlights are all standard even on Canada's most basic, affordable 2018 Kia Rio.
