The 11 New Vehicles Centennial Is Most Excited About For 2021

2020 wasn't all bad. There were babies born, beaches visited, and a greater emphasis on spending quality time with family.

But, well, let's face it: most of us our okay bidding farewell to 2020. It's 2021! Happy New Year! Let's look forward! We all have high hopes that after nine months of turmoil, this is going to be a different year. At Centennial, we're excited that 2021 means all kinds of new product lines arriving in our showrooms, from replacements for classic favourites to revolutionary introductions.

Mind you, this is just what we know is coming down the product pipeline. There are all kinds of possibilities from automakers that typically like to keep secrets for as long as possible. You don't want your competitors to know everything about your future product plans, right? Watch this space: as we learn more, we'll be updating this post with more info. (We've already added a 12th vehicle to the list!)

Q1

2021 Mazda 3 Turbo

On sale now, the turbocharged Mazda 3 is a top-spec Mazda 3 (in either Sport or sedan bodystyles) with the 2.5-liter turbocharged engine used in larger Mazdas, including the CX-9 and CX-5. Select the GT trim level in the sedan and all-wheel drive and you automatically receive this 250-horsepower monster of a motor with over 300 lb-ft of torque, or select the GT and optional turbo in the Mazda 3 Sport. The turbocharged engine is also standard in the Mazda 3 100th Anniversary Edition Sport and sedan.

2021 Mazda CX-30 Turbo

Like the Mazda 3, the Mazda CX-30 crossover also inherits the 2.5-liter turbo as an optional powerplant for 2021. It's only been a year since Mazda released the first CX-30 as an in-between option between the smaller CX-3 and larger CX-5. It's been a hit from day one and demand has been so strong that inventory has actually been persistently short supply. Over time, that supply will improve, and we're excited to start receiving the CX-30 with the optional 250-horsepower engine, a true performance crossover that's so distinct in its segment.

2021 Honda Ridgeline

Though not an entirely new vehicle – the Ridgeline keeps all its best bits – the 2021 Ridgeline features a totally new look and new infotainment. The Ridgeline will thankfully include all the elements that make it a remarkably safe and capable truck with 5,000 pounds of towing capacity, a 1,580-pound payload, a 207-litre in-bed trunk, and outstanding fuel economy. (Update: we now have full 2021 Ridgeline details.)

2021 Nissan Rogue

On sale at the tail end of 2020, the new Nissan Rogue is now widely available in a variety of trim levels at Centennial Nissan locations in both Summerside and Charlottetown. Now in its third generation, the new Rogue is a successor to the hugely successful model 2013-2020 model. The 2021 Rogue is a technological tour-de-force, it's loaded with equipment even in the entry-level S model, and it's still a remarkably family-friendly vehicle.

2021 Kia K5

The K5 is Kia's intermediate sedan successor for the Optima. With a serious focus on refinement and technology, the K5 is a high-style four-door with real performance credentials. All-wheel drive is standard on the LX, EX, and GT Line. Or you can option up to the 2021 Kia K5 GT, with 290 horsepower.

2021 Kia Sorento

Set to arrive at Centennial Kia any day now, the new Sorento is a very, very, very big deal. Historically, this is a top seller for Kia, so we've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this fourth-generation model. The new Sorento is more fuel efficient, includes more active safety features, and will be available in a rugged new X-Line trim. Every Sorento in Canada includes all-wheel drive and three rows of seating.

Q2

2022 Honda Civic

For 23 years, the Honda Civic has been Canada's best-selling car. The launch of a new Civic – this will be the 11th generation – is major news. We've already seen a prototype version of the new Civic that basically appears to be what the next Si version will look like. The new Civic will continue to be a class leader in interior space. Ride and handling improvements are expected thanks to a stiffer structure. And yes, eventually, there will be a new Si and a new Type R.

Q3

2022 Nissan Frontier

The timing isn't yet set in stone, and we haven't seen the final version of what the new Frontier will look like. But this new pickup is a follow-up to a highly trusted truck – the current Frontier has been serving truck ownes very well for more than a decade. We're confident that Nissan will throw down the gauntlet with a refined cabin and greater all-around capability. (Update: we now have details, timing, and a full photo gallery for the new Frontier.)

2022 Nissan Pathfinder

Unveiled in a joint event with the 2022 Nissan Frontier, the 2022 Nissan Pathfinder will offer eight-passenger seating for the first time. Towing capacity rises to 6,000 pounds. There are seven distinct AWD modes. The last Pathfinder's transmission has been replaced by a new 9-speed auto. Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard equipment. Read more about the new Pathfinder on our launch page.

TBD

Nissan Ariya

This is the future. The Leaf has been a global electric success for Nissan, but the next pure EV from Nissan is this SUV, the Ariya. Timing isn't finalized, but the Ariya is an engineering wonder with 482 kilometres of range, an abundance of power, and acres of cabin space.

Nissan Z

Since 1969, the Z has been a Japanese performance icon. The current 370Z is the sixth in a long line of sports cars. The upcoming Z, already revealed in thinly disguised prototype form, may well end up as the 400Z by the end of 2021.

Kia Sedona

Already on sale in some global markets as the Kia Carnival (a name the Sedona's always used in certain countries), the next Kia minivan represents a major re-think. If minivans are designed for ferrying people, Kia's going to invest in making those people as comfortable as possible. This is a truly sumptuous vehicle with what we expect to be some revolutionary features.
