The Very Rare 2019 Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition Is All About Racing Orange

Supremely rare, with only 3,000 to be built for worldwide consumption, this is the Mazda MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition, an orange-infused Miata with more performance and more flash than any production Miata that's come before. The MX-5 30th Anniversary Edition was unveiled at the Chicago Auto Show today, February 7.

The fourth-generation (codename ND) Miata is already known around the world as a sports car that offers more daily-driving, corner-carving, grin-creating pleasure than anything else on the road. But when it came time for a 30th Anniversary special edition, Mazda wanted to do more than a mere cosmetics job.

What would Miata drivers want?

That's easy. Mazda drivers would want fine-tuned performance upgrades on top of the new 2019 Miata that's already the most powerful and fastest Miata ever. So Mazda injected the 30th Anniversary MX-5 with Bilstein dampers, Brembo front brakes and Nissin rear brakes (both in orange), Recaro seats, and Rays ZE40 RS30 forged alloy wheels. The 30th Anniversary Edition MX-5 will also include Bose AudioPilot2 9-speaker audio - that's a whole lot of sound in a small package.

All 30th Anniversary Edition MX-5s will be painted in this new Racing Orange hue, which is copied in accents on the seats, door trim, dashboard, and shift lever. The 30th Anniversary Edition will be sold in both conventional roadster and RF retractable fastback variants.
