Planning A Trip To California? Go To The Petersen Museum To See These 8 Japanese Cars
There's nothing better than the smell of fresh, untouched, brand new car.
Unless, perhaps, it's a perfectly kept, beautifully painted, lovingly maintained old car.
Beginning tomorrow, May 24, 2018, and running through until next April, the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles is going to be hosting Monozukuri. Translation: 'the making of things.' While for so long classic cars were perceived to be the exclusive domain of '57 Chevys and pre-war Benzes, a look back from 2018 reveals decades of collectable Japanese cars. The Petersen Automotive Museum, one of just a handful of of the planet's best car museums, will have a massive display of Hondas, Mazdas, Nissans and Datsuns, Toyotas, Mitsubishis, Subarus, and other lesser-known Japanese cars that will definitely be worth checking out.
For most of us, however, a trip to Los Angeles just to look at cars is probably not in the cards. So we've compiled 8 of our favourite cars that'll be on display at the Petersen Automotive Museum, courtesy of Petersen's photo shop: a pair of white Hondas, two Mazda sports cars, two forerunners to the modern Nissan GT-R (including the Prince Skyline Sport shown above), the unusually handsome Datsun Model 16, and a Nissan Model 70 from 1937.
