Winter Warm-Up Guide
October 27 2020, Centennial Auto Group
One of the scariest things about Halloween is that colder temperatures and snow are just around the corner. In fact, the first official day of winter is only seven weeks away from our favorite spooky holiday.
But as we all know, winter tends to come earlier in the Maritimes. This year, make sure you’re ready for the changing seasons before the first snowfall using our Winter Warm-Up guidelines:
Winter Tires
When temperatures drop below seven degrees celsius, it's time to install your winter tires. Winter tires are specifically designed to maintain grip and performance while you make your way through the cold, snow, and slush. Give your all-seasons a break and let your winter tires keep you and your vehicle safe and on the road!
For a deeper look into why you should use winter tires, check out our Winter Tire FAQs.
Tread & Pressure Check
Have your technician check the tread and pressure of your tires. Winter tires use softer rubber with deeper treads that are designed to push water away from your vehicle while maintaining contact with the road. Fluctuating temperatures can cause the air in your tires to expand and contract, so be sure to monitor your tire pressures throughout the winter months for optimal performance and wear.
See the Whole Picture
Keep your windshield clear with winter wipers and a full washer fluid reservoir. Winter wipers have specially designed rubber to protect your windshield from everything winter throws your way. Make sure you pack your ice scraper and snow brush to reserve your washer fluid and keep things clean.
Check Your Battery
Whether your battery is new or old, cold temperatures will drain its voltage. Have your battery checked to keep your car starting on the first try.
